Associate Director, Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates The ICRU Associate Director facilitates student, faculty and staff involvement in undergraduate research and creative opportunities throughout the University of Iowa, while working under the direct supervision of the ICRU Director (who reports to the Office of the Vice President for Research). Percent time: 100%, flexible hours usually between 8 am-5 pm, Mon-Fri. Some evening hours required for Center events For additional information and a detailed job description, please visit the departmental website at: https://research.uiowa.edu/work-us About the Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates The Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates (ICRU) is a unit of the University of Iowa Office of the Vice President for Research. We promote undergraduate involvement in research and creative projects at the University of Iowa by facilitating the mentorship of students in research/creative work and providing platforms for students to explore research communication. We work with students, faculty, and staff from the arts, humanities, natural/physical sciences, social sciences, health and medicine, engineering, and business. Qualifications: Education or Equivalency Required Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Qualifications • Reasonable (typically 1-3 years) administrative, supervisory, and program experience is required. • Experience working with and/or supervising college students. • Must be proficient in computer software applications, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint including database management. • Demonstrate excellent communication skills for writing and speaking, with diverse audiences. Desirable Qualifications • Master's degree. • Experience with staff supervision in higher education. • Student advising experience. For context, past speakers for this conference have discussed their undergraduate involvement, what undergraduates bring to a research rich institution, like the University of Iowa, or how research impacts people. The keynote is scheduled to begin at 9:30 am, and last for half an hour. Keep in mind that your audience will be college undergraduate students, with some or no research experience.
