Job Description

As part of our strong and growing Cybersecurity team, you will utilize your extensive knowledge and experience to inform the university of malicious activity and reduce risk to regulated data. You will be a subject matter expert and be able to lead other analysts. You’ll gain experience in a large, complex environment that supports faculty, staff, and students throughout the world.

Essential Duties

The Lead Cybersecurity Manager will work in teams that defend against cyber threats, malware, and compromised systems impacting, or likely to, impact the university. They lead cybersecurity team in investigations, incident response, network forensics, vulnerability remediation, architecture reviews, threat hunting, and red team exercises.

They will work closely with different teams across the university to build an understanding of the threat landscape specific to a large and complex technology environment. They will actively work towards improving processes and automating routine procedures. They will evaluate and recommend improvements to capabilities, to include tools, data, and methods for security operations.

They will also supervise other Cybersecurity employees while helping career development and recruiting.

Additionally, this candidate takes responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in ET/ASU events and programs. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field AND five years of related experience, which includes three years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate has several years of experience in a mix of three key areas:

IT development, system administration, networks, or any technical, hands-on keyboard
Security operations: detecting, responding, and containing enterprise-wide threats
IT security controls, standards, policies, and regulatory compliance
The ideal candidate will also have:

Knowledge of how interconnected systems are designed, operate and store data
Experience with public cloud technology is expected.
Expert-level experience in common operating systems, networks, and security controls
Experience with common cybersecurity tools
Intrusion detection tools
Log event management and analysis tools
Endpoint-based intrusion prevention tools
Vulnerability, patch, and update management tools
Experience using a network protocol analyzer to trace TCP/IP sessions
Ability to correlate activity across assets (endpoint, network, apps) and environments (on-premises, cloud) to identify patterns of anomalous activity
Experience designing and implementing secure systems, applications, and networks
Knowledge of modern system designs using cloud native and infrastructure as code
Experience with common cloud languages and orchestration (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Git, Terraform)
Demonstrated ability to continually learn through training and certifications
More than one earned cybersecurity certification (e.g., GSEC, GCED, GCIA, GCIH, GPEN, GNFA, GPCS, GCSA, GDSA, CEH, CISSP)
Experience growing and developing teams
Experience planning for hiring and recruitment
Ability to model empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence
Experience hiring in a values-led organization, emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
Ability to help foster a safe psychological space for all teammates where everyone can thrive
Ability to stimulate changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment

Working Environment

Work is performed in a standard office environment subject to prolonged periods of stationary position and manipulation of a computer keyboard and associated peripherals/mouse.
On-campus office and/or remote depending on the circumstances in compliance with ASUs Flexible Work Arrangement policy.
Use office equipment including a desktop or laptop computer.
Communicate to perform essential duties.
Regular review of completed tasks.
