POSITION DETAILS
The Director of Counseling & Wellness Services will report to the Associate Dean for Student Support Services and will provide strategic, clinical, fiscal, and administrative vision and leadership regarding the provision of mental health services on campus, including oversight of assessment, crisis intervention, short-term individual counseling, consultation, referral, and outreach services. 
The Director serves as one of the key liaisons to Hunter College’s faculty, staff, and administrators on student mental health issues, policies, and practices; provides supervision, professional development, and evaluation of professional and support staff; oversees the graduate clinical training program; leads CWS in the strategic planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and continual improvement of comprehensive mental health initiatives, research, and assessment. 

 In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Director of Counseling & Wellness Services will:
Assume accountability for all routine clinical services 
Coordinate emergency and crisis response procedures 
Establish, implement, enforce, and evaluate CWS policies and procedures to facilitate quality service delivery 
Ensure performance improvement through the continuous Quality Assurance process and modify clinical practices based on QA outcomes 
Oversee Service’s research, assessment, strategic planning, and program development initiatives 
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, ethical, and legal requirements and best practices in the clinical field and in the institutional setting 
Facilitate routine Disposition meetings to ensure appropriate provision of services 
Ensure quality of referral services to community-based resources
Participate in departmental and institutional initiatives 
Serve on the Behavioral Response Team
Collaborate with a range of faculty/staff in academic and student affairs departments to enhance services to students 
Manage CWS budget 
Coordinate/oversee graduate clinical training program: selection of trainees, policy development and implementation, coordination of training activities 
Consult with and advise faculty, staff, administration regarding mental health issues that may affect educational processes 
Provide and coordinate consultation, education, and outreach services to faculty, staff, and students on mental health issues, and identifying, and intervening with, students in distress

Directs a college counseling center, integrating counseling services into a comprehensive student development experience. 
- Manages a counseling center providing a variety of services such as individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, workshops, classroom instruction, and academic intervention 
- Supervises and develops counseling faculty and staff 
- Develops department budget and manages fiscal affairs 
- Directs planning, evaluation, assessment and marketing of counseling services 
- Interfaces with academic departments, other College offices, and student groups to assess program needs and develop appropriate responses 
- Participates in inter-divisional programs to increase student success and retention 
- Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience.( $82,233 - $122,212)

Qualifications & Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:
A Doctoral degree in Psychology to include Ph.D. and Psy. D. programs 
(OR) a Master's degree in an appropriate discipline for psychological counseling AND a New York State license as a mental health practicioner (social work, psychology, or mental health counseling).

In addition, eight years of related professional experience is required for all candidates.

Vaccine Requirement:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
