4 Ways Students Can Stay Energized While Studying

4 Ways Students Can Stay Energized While Studying
Posted By: Brooke Chaplan on October 13, 2021

If you have an extended study session and you have a hard time staying energized when you study for long periods, there are many things you can do to stay awake and focused. Consider these four top techniques to ensure that you have the energy to get through a long study session.

Exercise Throughout the Session

If you study straight through a long session without moving much, you are more likely to have less energy. Set a timer for a certain amount of time, such as 20 minutes, and then get up and do simple exercises such as jumping jacks, squats, or planks. All you have to do is a few minutes of the exercises to increase your energy level and have the ability to focus more on your studies. Once you finish exercising, set your timer again for another 20 minutes. Breaking up your study time can help you rejuvenate your body and your brain so that you stay more alert.

Drink Coffee

Drinking coffee will help you stay awake during a long study session. Colombian whole bean coffee is the perfect coffee to keep you alert, and the smell of it being ground and brewing is a great way to keep your senses awake in the morning! Coffee is also a great way to start a group study session. Invite everyone over for a cup so that you can turn your long study session into a mild social event as well.

Stay Hydrated

Even when you are drinking coffee to stay awake, it is also essential to stay hydrated. Make sure you have your daily allowance of water to stay as alert as possible. If it is late and you are tired, try drinking ice water to boost your energy. If you have a hard time drinking water, use fruit, lemon, and straws to make it easier.

Sleep Before You Study

When you don’t have enough sleep, taking in information and staying focused on what you are studying is hard. So make sure you get at least six hours of sleep at night and try to study during the beginning of the day instead of at the end of the day to be more productive.
No matter what you study, it is important to have plenty of ways to stay focused and alert to absorb the information quickly. Prepare for your study session by getting your coffee ready, having ice water nearby, and getting plenty of sleep the night before.
