Fixtures & Equipment Project Manager About the Team
Our Real Estate team takes on the task of finding and managing over 1,600 stores, DCs, and offices. Their scope is pretty big, as we are a multi-national retailer with over 1,600 leased stores, offices, and distribution centers in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Hong Kong. The team also supports new store growth through market analysis and research with the industry’s best data resources and analytical tools. In addition to supporting the stores, we work directly with the Real Estate Legal, Facilities, New Store Construction, and Finance teams.
About the Job
SUMMARY
The Fixtures and Equipment Project Manager is responsible for managing the development and implementation of fixtures and equipment to all existing store locations. This person will manage all fixture category changes directed from the Store Design Team as well as projects driven by innovation through Leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages key milestones, and ensures financial budgets are met and projects are delivered effectively to achieve the overall goals of the merch initiative
Manages projects and programs cross-functionally across the business, interfaces with Merch stakeholders and across the enterprise to achieve successful integration geared at reducing costs and creating positive business impact for our stores
Manages all phases of vendor relationships through accountability and communication through all project phases: scope, concept, prototype, production, logistics, implementation, and project close outs of all custom and non-custom fixtures and equipment
Takes sole ownership of projects and category release from a Fixtures and Equipment (F&E) perspective.
Partners with Manager of Category Resets to ensure fixture orders are on-time and accurate for all large-scale resets.
Documents and communicates project requirements: scope, time, cost, and risk
Sources and selects vendors; places orders; verifies product quality and ensures on-time deliveries
Partners with transportation department for scheduling and updating merchandise project dates accordingly
Manages and reports on budget for replenishment of fixtures, category releases, 3rd party labor and other projects
Must anticipate changes in deadlines and adjust accordingly to ensure new timelines are met. Communicate all changes to vendors and all appropriate partners
Must be able to manage multiple, 10 or more, projects at one time while maintaining high efficiencies and productivity on each and meeting all timelines on each project
BUDGET RESPONSIBILITES
PM’s budget responsibility is up to $10 million on all merchandising projects and cost saving/innovation driven projects
MAJOR CHALLENGES
This position is challenged to provide the organization with the appropriate knowledge and expertise to execute all of PetSmart’s merchandising driven and/or innovation/cost savings driven initiatives. All projects must be executed within predetermined project timelines while maintaining all budget requirements and cutting costs where possible. Due to the nature of the work, this position will experience periods of high demand. This person must be able to work during these periods of high demand with efficiency, and consistency. You will also be required to build/or assemble any prototype fixtures at our MDC for review.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree from four year college or university and Project management experience preferred but not required.
Retail store manager experience of 4-8 years.
Key performance measures may include, but are not limited to: knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Access and Microsoft Sharepoint.
Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast changing work environment.
Ability to devise creative solutions; produce measurable results; produce high quality work and attention to detail.
